About

After making a bracelet from some brass wire, screws and nuts during an early childhood materials workshop, I was inspired to take a continuing studies metalsmith class at the Maine College of Art. One more informal class at Artascope gave me the confidence to use a small torch and set up my shop. Since then, I have been learning through play, practice, reading and watching other very generous makers on YouTube.

My life’s work with young children has taught me to embrace the process, including all the messes and mistakes. Giving in to this way of thinking leads to much creativity and joy. It also pushes me to create new designs using leftover scrap. I have permission to appreciate what emerges from this open process. Most of my favorite work is non-traditional and full of texture.

I enjoy collaborations. Working with others’ ideas continues to inspire me and pushes my skill—both in designing and in fabricating. It's always exciting to have clients return with new proposals.
